Frankfurt Airport (FRA) App Reviews

I thing its a Great new update. Clear and nice design very simple and gives you a good overview about the Airport. You also have a sign translater and it works great. Dont understand the negative comments here. We need to go forward and develop new things otherwise we will still have no internet. ;) So thanks for the update. Im using it all the time when Im on my business trips here.

This could be a great app, but it falls short on so many levels I tried this app just yesterday. Flight schedules are easy to work with (but there are other apps that so the same). My main requirement was to find POIs and help on how to get there. This is where the app falls short to a point where it is absolutely useless. To determine your position, the app offers either "automatic" , QR code scanning, or "manual selection". "Automatic" requires logging into the FRA wifi network - I only received error messages. Nothing "automatic" or easy to use. QR code scanning: nice idea, except: there a no such Codes ANYWHERE. I would expect one at EVERY flight arrival/departure info board, escalator, elevator (outside and IN car) intersections, and other highly frequented places. Leaves only the "manual select location" from a huge list of POIs - I thought it better to ask for directions at this point. With "current location" not useable, this app looses most of its (potentially great) usefulness. With all he above, I thought getting a decent information on where places are would be nice. Receiving "Terminal 1, section C, level 3" is rather terse and not helpful. Keep in mind that you are supposed to use this app in a somewhat time critical scenario (getting to a flight, maybe?). This app would benefit a lot (in my opinion) if: - QR CODES were actually present (at strategic points, info boards, escalators, elevators, intersections)! - use augmented reality display, not just terse directions. Often simpler to just look at the screen and SEE where you need to go. - How to get back to your CAR, anyone? - enter flight info and get directions to check in/gate or pick up area. - tied into arrival/departure info and given the app would know your flight info, actually remind you of when to go to the fate - taking into account time needed to GET THERE and possible security check delays.

If you flying to somwhere and change flights in Frankfurt you MUST have this app! First run takes a bit long, till load all maps, sores etc. info, but after that is smooth and stabile just as any German engineering! Thanks Fraport! :)

It Crashes on startup.

Maps too small to read, won enlarge. App seems to be mainly designed to take you to shopping. Waste of time.

Use it all the time for travel purposes to Frankfurt.

This app opens by playing a 15s video. It cuts your music, transmits to your home tv if youre using airplay, and if you interrupt the video the app crashes and will not open. Dreadful design. Once you get past that, the app is unattractive and filled with spurious graphics that hide rather than enhance the useful content. It is possible to add several flights to the home screen to track them, except theres no way to refresh... You have to go into every individual flight one by one and refresh it. Additionally if you take the same flight every day or every week, you have to add it as a tracked flight every time. Badly thought through. The airport maps are not detailed enough to be useful. The English translations are in some cases a little confusing, e.g. "Save for later" actually means "Add to tracked flights" (not later but now). Overall flawed and the way the video takes over all music or video playing on your phone (whether a song, a game, a news stream) is just terrible.

The map function alone makes this app worth it. They have various QC code points on the walls that allow you to scan and it locates your position, and can give you directions to where you want to go. Zoom in to see all the shops and high detail for navigating. Flight info is updated just as fast as airport info screens. Highly recommend.

I got this app solely to have turn by turn navigation between gates. It worked 4 hours after the first download. The next day it stopped working. It simply shows my start location now. No matter how many times I repeat the search, try a new one, go back to the home page of the app, delete the app and reinstall it, change the settings on the app, nothing brings back the turn by turn feature. Since static maps dont show where stairs are located in FRA , this app is now useless to me.

Unable to find the location of any of the Hotels at the Airport, nor their street address; while an over abundance of fast food outlets fills lots of pages.
